Backflow Assembly Testing
Backflow Assembly Testing
The City of Medical Lake Water Department takes pride in providing quality drinking water to our community. Although he water that reaches your home and business is pure and clean, Contamination can occur within your own piping system. This potential contamination hazard is known as a "Cross Connection." For example lawn irrigation system is a potential cross connection to our water system, which needs to be protected by the use of a Backflow Assembly.
The State of Washington Health District has established rules and requirements to enable the City of Medical Lake Water Department to protect our water system. Our goal is to identify the potential cross connection hazard in our water system and then take appropriate action to protect against them.
Water suppliers, home owners, business owners and health officials must all share in the responsibly to ensure the safety of our community’s drinking water. All home owners and business owners that have assemblies installed on their premises, the Sate of Washington and the City of Medical Lake require that all backflow assemblies be tested by a Washington State Certified backflow Assembly Tester (BAT) upon installation, annually there after and after any repair have been made to the assembly. A Assembly test report needs to be completed by a certified Backflow Assembly Tester and one copy should be returned to the City of Medical Lake Public Works Department.
